"DWNBYDASHACK" - A Beat Tape Sketch By Blue Fluff|
DWNBYDASHACK (or Down By The Shack) is a humorous translation of a term or phrase [Phansi Emjodolo] used by popular Durban musician Mampintsha. This initially was intended to be one of those short beat tapes with a tad touch of that slow Lo-Fi style but the final product or the sound that was the outcome chooses otherwise. Hence its referenced as a "Sketch". This sketch or "dance routine" (Blue Fluff likes to reference it by) is a mash up of that old DKM [Durban Kwaito Music Vocals] & Blue's style of spaced out vibes/ beat sampling& editing but still maintaining a flow & creative transition. Opening with a phonecall typa scenario with one of the executives calling him letting him hear the tunes in the background! Which is a Gqom tune which was the one of the main inspirations to the creative direction of the sketch. Blue Fluff creates another new alternative to the approach to DKM or Gqom music in bits & pieces instead of them being viewed as remixes. This is just the beginning of the DWNBYDASHACK series more still is bound to surface later throughout the year.
