Elastic Scattering by Adam Johan Bergren
Conservation of kinetic energy occurs when two or more particles undergo elastic scattering. While the total energy remains constant, these interactions can lead to changes in trajectory, velocity, and other parameters, and can include the conversion of energy from one form to another; examples include lattice excitation that can lead to photon emission.
The central concept in Elastic Scattering is to view our interactions with the world through this lens: some of our scattering events are elastic, with our energy and that of our interaction point unchanged overall, with with perhaps directional or speed changes at the local point.
Contemplating the state of mind that is required for Elastic Scattering takes on the absurd, whimsical, and unpredictable way that our interactions impact us. The shifts in these states is represented here through events with a wide range of interaction times; from transient to the long term.
