This Night from Del Mar by Adult Karate

“This Night” started as an experiment with drum and bass music; the classic “Amen” break sample forms the backbone for the drums, cut up into single drum hits. But instead of making a straightforward D&B track, I tried to make it feel more like a new wave pop song, with big synths, guitars and ambitious vocal melodies. I based the lyrics on a short story I read about a fractured father-son relationship, where the father left his family at a very young age. And even after all the pain and regret they both felt through the years, they were able to repair things because they realized that, mistakes aside, they were better people when they had a relationship.
