Haiku by Keith Kelly

This is all based on a poem I wrote.

Throughout June 2020, I was constantly distracted as I imagined the new world I might live in, how it might all feel, and when that time might be. I thought about my lost self and how it felt to be so...shredded/swallowed.

Each track is four alto saxophones. All the music here is improvised - or as you might prefer to call it: emergent. One line was improvised and then another and then another and then another. Sometimes I recorded the first line as a "pure improvisation" - sometimes in response to something else I wrote or played that was already recorded. Every line is its own single take and most of the time I was listening to already-recorded track while I improvised lines two, three, and four. But not always.

long burnt pride pushes us on
