Recorded mid September in 2013 this work was improvised in it's entirety beginning at 5:00 AM, just before the dawn. As musicians awoke in the fog covered mountains of Santa Cruz, we recorded from our hearts. Tracks three, four and five are new and old improvisational themes that I've worked on for some time. Having Richard and Lalita Karst in the room was perfect because Richard's father, Pabah, owned the Starr grand piano that I played for this album. Richard said that his Pabah would be proud. The piano had just been delivered from Santa Monica and hadn't even been tuned. It was just dusted off and I sat down and played. I was so inspired by it's Divine qualities. Love Divine.

The final track is a digital album bonus track of a hour improvisation we did one hour after the sunrise.

Zen Jazz is the best way to describe Alex Belden’s Solo Piano genre. He looks to the vast infinite universe, listens, then performs an aural translation of all the harmonic and melodic ideas that flow through the universal consciousness. He sees newness and freshness in everything and everybody. This healing perspective allows the listener to take their own imaginative journey through space.
