Metamorphosis by Alex Ringess

I composed this album with the idea in mind that nothing repeats itself identically in life.
What we identify as cycles are something different.
History does not repeat itself identically.
What gives us this feeling comes from the fact that our brain has been built by millions of years of evolution to spot patterns that repeat themselves. It is a matter of survival. It is very useful to know how to spot the habits of a prey, or how a predator hunts, or when the sowing season is going to start.
It is a reassuring, comfortable illusion.

This album is therefore made up of patterns that repeat themselves while evolving throughout the album.
It is also a continuum, this is why it is made of one track. But there is still two main parts.

You will also see that on the sound design side and the mixing and mastering side, I experimented quite a bit. This is not the kind of sound I used to produce.
I wanted a sound that was just as metallic and mineral, but also "aquatic", with deep and powerful bass, and I wanted it to be as detailed and clear as possible. Reverbs and delays also play an important role and speaking of delay, I extensively used a preset pack for Valhalla Delay recently released by Remote Vision (check it out https://material.bandcamp.com/album/sequenced-cinematics ). So I needed a stereo field that left room for the instruments. And having powerful and deep bass in that space didn't make it easy for me.

NB: This album isn't mastered loud on purpose. If you need to kill your ears, just crank up the volume of your sound system ^^ You better go with headphones for this one.
