Things got from bad to worse

Sailors cursed the seven seas
And the captain damned the crew
I’m sittin’ here alone
In my own solitude
It’s tighter than my lonely room
And a little darker, too

Bottoms up, the ship went down
It sank into the void
Able seamen made it out
They were really quite annoyed
Everybody swam ashore
Found a desert island each
Close enough to know they’re there
But a beach too far to reach

You know your mates are out there
You know they’re ’round here, too
You know that you’ve been lucky
But you can’t help feelin’ blue
