Meditation Garden is a generative ambient quantum music for meditation and relaxation. It can be used as a music background for any activity requiring a calm and relaxing environment. The track is an hour long, and never ending if you loop it back at the end.
Quantum theory is a very promising source of inspiration for experimental electronic music. Quantum music can be defined as music composed or performed using the principles of quantum mechanics. It can take advantages of existing quantum computers, or due the current difficulty to access these machines, be generated by classical computers that are programmed to mimic quantum effects.
Meditation Garden is based on two main classes of algorithms: cellular automata and quantum notes. While cellular automata are quite well known, quantum notes, or Qunotes, refer to a new musical concept that follows the main principles of quantum mechanics: superposition, decoherence, and entanglement. Qunotes are like Qubits but with musical notes instead of binary information. In a classical composition, a note would have to be in one state, ie. one pitch value, if we consider only this parameter. In contrast, the quantum state of a qunote is represented by a linear superposition of a defined number of pitch values. It’s only when the piece of quantum music is played (measured) that a qunote collapses into a defined state. Each time you play the same qunote, you may obtain different notes depending on its probability amplitudes. This results in many possible interpretations of the same score.
Meditation Garden is a meditative journey composed of six parts:
Part 1 - Emerging from the quantum field,
Part 2 - Drifting endlessly by the waves,
Part 3 - Down the calming particle streams,
Part 4 - Our spirit slowly moves as rebounds,
Part 5 - As rhythm takes another turn,
Part 6 - Everything, everyone is connected.
The last movement of Meditation Garden is an original arrangement and orchestration of La Folia, one of the oldest remembered European musical themes. This version is based on the Folies d’Espagne variations for viola by Marin Marais composed in 1701.
I hope you’ll enjoy the music. Don’t hesitate to contact me in you have any question.
Due to Bandcamp file size limitation, the full Meditation Garden track is 16-bit 44.1 kHz (CD quality). However, the album also includes the six movements separately in 24-bit 48kHz format.
