Starship by Ari Neufeld
"Starship" was written during my lonely and exciting "Artist Development Residence" in Austin Texas. It was written for Ailen White, who tragically lost her father early one morning in a car accident. None of it made sense. Her father was such an intelligent, strong, careful, compassionate man, and his death felt so random to the community. Of all the people to be taken so randomly, why him??
This song came as a deep healing to me and and Ailen and many other people. It is certainly a song with a story for everyone, but you can interpret it the way you'd like. It was recorded at Bottega studios by Jamie Prentice on Josh Smith's ukelele, with the help of David Krysko's Steinway piano, Brent Tyler's voice and Jordan Wiberg's orchestrating. THE INCREDIBLE BANJO IS JESSE PADGETT!
It took three years to complete. I was tempted to charge $10 per download!
