This music was written during a time of change and consequence. Even the most accessible songs on this album belie an underlying current of skepticism and dissent. Full of unique sounds and pop hooks, many reflect a struggle to remain calm and optimistic against a backdrop of increasingly dire effects due to economic uncertainty, moral hypocrisy, rapidly polarizing politics, climate change and a deadly worldwide pandemic. But there is hope and we do care so we express ourselves in flawed art while at the same time, we ourselves are damaged by overexposure to the dominant aesthetic orthodoxy.
