Antihuman by Premature Burial

DM Dopico AKA Dopi is one of my favourite guys in the underground metal scene. I've been in touch with him for many years now and he's always just been a total solid guy. 100% old school who loves all sorts of metal but has a total DIY punk attitude. He's my sort of guy.

This is Dopi's debut album under the Premature Burial moniker and it sees him playing everything. It's a total celebration of old school metal in every way; the rough but powerful sound, the artwork, the influences. The most obvious touch-point would probably be Celtic Frost but there's loads of Motorhead, Venom, Voivod and definitely a hefty slab of metal-era Amebix.

There's a definite classic metal feel to a lot of this too, and some of the breaks, classical guitar parts and solos are straight out of the NWOBHM; if it weren't for the gruff vocals you could mistake some of this gear for being a rough Priest recording from the late 70's! It's a total and utter fuckin riff fest from start to finish and for me cassette tape is the perfect format for tunes like this. I got into metal by me and my pals making tapes of each others' albums cos we couldn't afford to buy everything we wanted ourselves. This is what it's all about!
