Sleeplessinsleep by Barbarika

For more than twenty years, Barbarika has lurked in the shadows, waiting for this opportunity to tell his unspeakable stories before getting completely confined in the water prison of his own consciousness.

Each of the thirteen songs on his debut album forms an exotic picture, yet they are all fractions of an otherworldly soundscape, which is dreamily weaved together by delicate rhythm patterns of dance music, and a wide range of instruments and their timbral samples, such as guzheng, koto, Chinese drums, taiko, oud, douk, sitar, and most importantly Barbarika's own vocal. His eerie murmuring expression, borrowing narrative styles from poetry, fiction, theater play, or even philosophical texts, leads onto the path towards the depth of a spiritual world.

This album is dedicated to the memory of Li Yongzhong, my father.

一只低像素的、半透明的、喑哑到难以辨认的猫科动物，Barbarika 能确定那是真实的相遇。一直生活在所有人的视野死角，融入无边黑色的同时，他伺机而动 —— 不是为了突然闯入谁的视界，只是为了：从摊开的手掌上升帆而来，在每一棵夜色中挥手的树木前伫足，在地理定义之外的浮岛躲避暴力，在梦的入口遇到自己。

这是献给父亲、Barbara 和 Ewa Demarczyk 的陈旧歌曲；二十来年，它们在 Barbarika 脑中经历了万水千山的虚拟创作。“我终于在快要把自己完全囚禁前，带着这十三首歌进入了梦境的更深处。”
