Basskruit is saying goodbye ... but goes out with one final 'banging' release 💣

Going back to early 2020, DUPLOC [BE] and Hebbe [NL] launched Basskruit (a little Dutch wordplay meaning something like explosive bass music) in prosperous dubstep times.

The idea was to unite the rising Belgian and Dutch 140 scene, by releasing tunes from local producers while hosting events throughout Belgium and The Netherlands.

Given the ever-changing dubstep scene, as well as considering the different ways underground music gets consumed nowadays, the desires of the artists involved, and considering the limited opportunities to host local events, it was decided to put the label to a close on the 1st of November 2024, quitting at its peak deliberately:

"We are very happy with each and every release on Basskruit, but various changes as well as shifting priorities in life has made us realize the time has come to close down the label. In theory we could quite easily continue releasing one or two projects throughout the coming years. However, if we cannot do it with the exact same focus, energy and consistency, it will probably affect the quality of the label's output - as well as our reach - sooner or later. And in the long run neither our artists, nor our fans, nor we will benefit from that. That's why we believe it's for the better to stop right now at our peak so we can walk out with our heads held high."

A total of 25 projects with over 100 tracks - and working with over 30 local dubstep producers - has been the result of a fruitful partnership between DUPLOC and Hebbe. Proud of their legacy, both are looking back with nothing but contentment.

This "Basskruit Collection" is the final release from the label and is a selection of personal favourites from the label owners, while it should also properly reflect the label's sound in general. Consider this compilation to be a nice little wrap-up of what Basskruit was about.
