Osafune by Betts(JP)
Betts(JP) is an artist based in Japan. His music is inspired by the sounds he has recorded in various places, especially in the area where he lives. The sounds consist of field recordings and guitar samples. One of the characteristics of his work is that it is almost devoid of personal thought. The concept of his work is to thoroughly express the landscape through sound.
Betts(JP) did a field recording under the bridge girder of the Shinkansen in a town called Osafune. The Shinkansen is Japan's high-speed railroad. He aimed to capture the moment when the roar of the bullet train drowned out the sound of water flowing in the river and the voices of birds and insects.
This is a rural town where Japanese swords have been handed down as a traditional craft since ancient times, and it is blessed with rich nature and kind people. Tradition has always been sincerely preserved, not only in crafts, but also in the agricultural and food industries.
