it is a light, it goes off
you stand alone in darkness
it is a light that comes on
& you find you're not alone
with lies to cut the brightness
these incandescent vultures
they pick your mind a moment
then turn your mind to stone

They cover up misery exceedingly well
nobody sees through their exaggerated hell
they're blind carbon copied but they'll never reply
to the scriptures of denial that help them get by

actors in roles - of role models and citizens
pull out the rug from under your sensible shoes
the harder we fall the more likely they'll profit &
the less ground that we gain the less likely they'll lose.

if they're patient your mind will give up such things
they'll come down upon you & pick your soul dry.
