Mestre by Mestre
Mestre was founded in Metz 2015 after the split of Mannequin Republic (emo-rock band which was active from 2011 to 2013). Nicolas, Thibault and Julien decided to play together again and to make a darker music influenced by post-punk/new wave bands such as Joy Division, The Cure, Eagulls, Sleaford Mods and Black Marble.
No organic drums but a very 80s and mechanic drum machine is used to give a “colder” ambience. Lyrics are gloomy and talk about the ill-being generated from the dysfunctions of the current society. The bass is sustained, the synth is cheap and the guitar ethereal. The three friends make the difference with their fast tempos and a nervous voice, in comparison to classic post-punk bands.
After almost two years of work on the songs, the band played live in the biggest cities of East of France, in Germany and will play soon in Belgium.
Mestre works since end of 2017 on their set list and on new songs with a drummer, Peter (also playing in Fat Bald Turk). After the 4-titles-EP which is coming on the Chilean label Botanical Party on March 2018, they plan to release two new songs on a split EP during the year. The other future plans are to write an album and to make tours in Europe and one in South America.
