Glass jaw, glass heart
but not the kind that's never in demand.
Present company we sung about.
Hide it with the socks and the other contraband.

Look around with eye closed!
Colors trapped in mason jars again.
Amber waves of pure prose,
a fresh sheet of paper spoiled.

My heart is a car on the roadside that the owner has abandoned to go look for help.

Glass jaw, paper weight.
You held me down in very subtle ways.
Inspired awe, inspired hate--
a top-heavy handed way.

At will, at large,
the understatement of the season.
If I'm a magnet, then you're the charge.
And you ruled with an iron demeanor.

My heart's on the operating table which I'd like to reclaim but it's beyond my control.
