Second Hand by Brian Ohme
Inspired by an interview with Bob Dylan, where he claimed to write "Blowin' In The Wind" in ten minutes, I got to thinking about time ticking and talking. The rest of the lyric just fell out of my head over the next hour or so. I love the process; where will the next word come from, and where will it lead me? The music was something I had been noodling around with, so was very convenient and happened to work.

When the endless ticking talks to you
Second guessing everything you do
It’s no time to tie your shoe so
Get used to tripping
The hour hand clenched to a fist
Around those moments you have missed
While in the deep and dark abyss
Your candle wax is dripping
Gulping from the hour glass
Mouth full of sand and a bleeding hand
Given then to understand

The golden pendulum has swung
The bee line led to being stung

Bleeding eyes are everywhere

Canine streetlight alley fears

Liars court the fertile sow
The other pigs leave, scowling
