sweet rosemary
opened the door for me
sang me a song
she was so kind to me
but i treated her mean

word got around about what went down
like fire catches dead leaves
the way people talk
when they don't want to talk
to a cruel hearted creep like me

we all get tired of the same boring things
but rosemary never got tired
cleaved to me tight
held me through the night
how she cried when i tried to leave

i never wanted to be anybody's
and somehow i didn't believe
that she could really love me
i sensed i was broken a long time before
but now i know it for sure

grudges she held
she kept to herself
