The inspiration for these songs stem during a period of regular nature-walks in my life whilst taking mossy toy photographs as Tiny Forest Photo Club (search insta for that name). At that time I was listening to lots of nature-focused albums such as Mort Garson's Plantasia, Felbm, Green-House, and some others all the while gently rocking a baby. It put me in a reflective state which had me meditating on the small details around us and the appreciation of slow growth.
Over the following years I have been exploring these organic and nature motifs alongside the workflows and sonic characteristics of various grooveboxes in a bliss of computer-free music making in cozy nooks at home. The Catbeats cats and I have now finally completed a collection of songs which take Tobii and Mazzy on a new adventure! Imagine the cats shrinking and wandering a magical tiny forest filled with all sorts of tiny life and discoveries.
In tradition of the last vinyl crowdfund (I like to call it a "crowdFUN") — the vinyl will be a lightly edited continuous mix of the whole album on Sides A and B with additional voiceovers and exclusive overdubs with mellotron and nostalgic synth-sounds from video-games of yore. Conceptually the voice-overs now are more akin to a guided meditation to help you relax and take you deeper into this catbeats story so it may provide you a needed respite.
I'm excited to bring this new project into the world and invite those old and new to join this crowdfun adventure into the wood... the mushy forest!
