So Richard Branson has stolen a march on the likes of Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk in the scrillionaire space race.

The resources poured by these mega-egos into their ultimate vanity projects could have been invested in the well-being of their fellow human beings.

Billions still lack basic essentials such as clean water, education, habitable dwellings, and meaningful employment.

However, these Western Oligarchs prefer to gaze down upon us in a state of weightlessness, in the company of other super-rich parasites on a glorified fairground ride.

Their investments in these gigantic toys are- from a scientific perspective- worthless.
Space itself could become the next arena of contention between the superpowers.

Not all general space research is a waste.

We should have no objections to humanity reaching out, and to landing probes on Mars, and plunging into the outer reaches of the solar system, and into the Oort and Kuiper Belts- if it adds to the sum total of human knowledge.

Hopefully what we learn and discover in these ventures will somehow be of a benefit to all of us on one level or another- possibly assist in providing solutions to the dangers facing this planet with global warming.

We don’t want to end up like the surface of Venus.

Back here, on Terra Firma, these narcissistic Plutocrats are considering setting up colonies on Mars…

I can’t think of a better place for them, along with all the heads of state- a destination of no return. While we get on with the healing and reconstruction of this planet for a different future, propelled not by greed and authoritarianism- but universal, liberating revolution.
