Not long ago we prowled the seas
With a restless cutlass
To tell the tale, on every ship
We left one witness
Our legend grew, everyone knew
We were hale and heartless
Is pirate’s pride the reason why
The gods have cursed us

The day was fair, we were drunk on kir
It was just past breakfast
Casting darts to plan our course
When we hit the tempest
The wind was wild, St. Elmo’s fire
Lit up the crow’s nest
The mainmast cracked, the rigging snapped
The storm shipwrecked us

Waltz with me around the rail
Lit up by the spotlight of a haunted lighthouse
Hear the voices on the gale
Wailing out a warning from a haunted lighthouse

We thrashed ashore, all was dark and cold
But a glowing fortress
We stepped inside, before our eyes
We beheld our portraits
A fire blazed and a feast was laid
On the table for us
Why fight our fate? We drank and ate
And ignored the portents

Waltz with me around the rail
Watching the horizon from a haunted lighthouse
Hear the voices on the gale
Whirling all around us in a haunted lighthouse

I am trapped on this island...

For weeks (or years?) we have lingered here
Our command abandoned
Castaways are we here to stay
We are strange and stranded
But every night when the tide is high
And we turn the lamp on
Our shadows play on the moon’s bright face
Like a magic lantern

Hear our voices on the gale
Floating like the ghosts that haunt this haunted lighthouse
