BIG TAPE by CHEFKIRK
In December 2020 I stayed at the Zen House in Yacahts, Oregon for 11 days. I brought with me a small collection of electronics. The Zen House had a garage space under the second bedroom which was a cold concrete floored space complete with an empty card table and a tiny space heater. After the 1st night I woke early and with a fresh hot bowl of coffee I got to work on my set-up and recordings. I awoke each morning between 5 and 6 then went into the main house for my coffee and back into the garage space to record. I did this every morning (almost every time after heading into the sauna for some relaxation and realization) and ending up bringing home somewhere close to 5 hours of material. I edited this down significantly, mostly just by multiple listening sessions and just scrapping what didn't set right with me. Really, not much editing went into any of this material. I basically set some sounds in motion, hit record, then stop. I didn't know what to do with this stuff until I found 3 unopened C-110's in my tape box that my father-in-law had sent me from his local thrift store some time ago. The impetus for BIG TAPE is those 3 strange C-110 cassette tapes.
