I started writing out my feelings try to get it all on paper
Put in a letter how I feel about you
My brother saw me writing, said I’m not up with the timing
Said she’s read an email so I tried that too
But before I even started to avoid looking “retarded”
Decided that I needed a tutor on the rules

You got emoticons, chain mail, rich text, abbreviations
Numbers used as letters, and cut-and-paste too
Better turn the spell checker off, it’s gonna get nasty
They’re not really words, “You got an error in your syntax”
Like an ampersand, it’s kinda like a catch all
Use it like a comma when you scramble up the facts

You said you got the feeling but the words are kinda sucky
It’s gotta be email so that I can seem cool
Finished up writing and I gave it to my brother
And then he looked at me and said “What’s that dude?!”

I gotta mess up the proper term to be pop culture
Z’s and L’s and K’s in unfamiliar places
I can’t just make a point I gotta emphasize a little
Gets me to the point of excessive punctuation
Question mark, ellipsis, overuse of exclamations,
Spelling with phonetics is the way you gotta rule
I finished the corrections and I gave it to my brother
And then he looked at me and said “What’s that dude?!”
