You have no need to be afraid of me
I am not vicious like they say
I was just a boy then, I have done
What anyone might do in my place

I was the second son, my father's gone
I know there is no farmer's life for me
And when the creek ran dry, that gang and I
Did what we could to feed our family

To the Canyons we shall ride
But we can't hide forever

And with a price upon our heads we moved out further west
Towards the sandy sea
And if the troopers ever track us down
They'll see how brave a farmer's boy can be
