These songs are set in a dystopian 1985, inside of a strip club. The love/hate relationship in question is between one of the young dancers and a divorced ex-cop who finds refuge under the blinding colorful lights. Behind the scenes, they engage in a short-lived romance fueled by some serious narcotics. Once the drugs wear off, they go their separate ways, realizing that their attraction has burnt out.
Cities & States' sophomore album, aptly named "Sophomore Slump", is a massive work displaying the breadth of Richard's palette, Sinnatamby's engineering mastery, and Bickerton's command of the kit. This collaboration has revealed a palpable necessity for expression, and a greater need for exploring the far corners of an endless musical landscape. Step inside their world with "Ambulance Racer"!
