PLAY IT LOUD OR DON'T PLAY IT AT ALL.

Wink.

The rickety creaky essence must envelop you.

BALDY was conceived between two good friends late one night, boozing and stargazing on a rooftop in Chinatown, Manhattan... the idea was to make simple / moderately off kilter slow tempo music that still delivered an affect on par with more complex and fast music, to make simple music that took great discipline to play because of the rigid simplicity - yet to be content with the act itself and release any hopes or expectations on how others might perceive us for being so simplistic or how languid our singing was. Stripped down anti music? In truth I've always really appreciated atonal and slurred punk vocals and the miraculous rhythm produced via the dichotomy of human error / error compensation. An exercise in languidity, a celebration of exhaustion subliming in to some semblance of inner peace, an exercise in being ok with perhaps not being ok or not being well received - by anyone. Loner rock. A meditation on being far away from home - far away from the ones you admire that also admire you back - your people. Naked in front of strangers. Thinking how you will someday return to these distant loved ones a more noble person.

The name Baldy is an homage to the Bald Mountain in Sun Valley, Idaho. Where Valencia lived intermittently for two distinct awkward phases, once as a child and once again as an unsupervised adolescent. A project born of late twenties growing pains in reflection of past awkward phases as some cathartic poetry sigil work.

BALDY - Far Away was performed by Valencia, and del Rio. Recorded during a heatwave in an apartment with no air conditioning; mixed and anti-mastered by Valencia. The only ever live performance was by Ericson and Valencia. RIP BALDY.
