Verdant Night by Coppice Halifax

Verdant Night is a (not entirely unexpected) beatless extension of the Verdant Acre series, created across several years of alchemical transmutation while the much more rhythmic Verdant Compost project ran parallel alongside its development. Verdant Night reduces each of the six volumes of Verdant Acre into a 60+ minute suite of texture, drones, humid atmospheres and sprawling generative sound. Built using only the original damaged vinyl sides which seeded the entire VA series, alongside an exhaustive studio rig of both analog and digital FX devices, reel to reel and cassette tapes and elaborate generational processing, in order to truly melt down the provenance of Verdant Acre and use it to germinate an entirely new overgrowth of dark green.

Edited mixes of the six Verdant Night pieces are currently in progress in the White Pillar Workshop, which will complete the cyclical nature of the recordings by rejoining the ambient reductions with the original drum machines used, hopefully yielding a unique drone-techno reincarnation of this endless green sound. Additionally, the original ambient piece that inspired the creation of these six, Verdant Dusk, will appear as a "satellite" release to coincide with the Verdant series revival.
