Tiny Town by Dan Sonenberg

Tiny Town is a song I wrote in 1989 or 1990, and is one of those long-ago tunes I could never quite let go of. It never got a proper recording, so I finally set about setting that right. I had the pleasure of collaborating with one of my oldest friends, Jon Kapsis, on the recording. Jon played the song with me some 34 years ago, at least once, and brought some very cool ideas to this rendition.

In the main (non-bonus track), I use my original vocal from the first-ever performance of the song as background voice. It may be difficult to distinguish from the other vocals, but at the end of the second chorus, you can hear it lingering into the outro. I used some nice AI trickery to separate that vocal part from the original recording - a very hissy live documentation of acoustic guitar and voice (which is available here as a bonus track).

Dan Sonenberg is a composer and singer-songwriter living in Portland, Maine. He is the composer of the opera The Summer King, which was produced by Pittsburgh Opera in 2017, and Michigan Opera Theatre in 2018. Also the founder of the indie rock band Lovers of Fiction.
