Reminiscence by Daphne Farazi

Το Reminiscence (ρεμινίσενς) είναι ένα εξ'ολοκλήρου προσωπικό άλμπουμ, οικιακής παραγωγής. Περιέχει κάποια από τα πρώτα κομμάτια για πιάνο που έγραψα κατά τα τελευταία σχολικά μου έτη, καθώς και κάποια μουσικά θέματα με αφορμή τις σπουδαστικές ταινίες μικρού μήκους στις οποίες συμμετείχα λίγα χρόνια αργότερα.

Ο τίτλος υποδηλώνει κάτά κάποιον τρόπο την αφήγηση μιας ιστορίας σαν ξεχασμένο βίωμα. Σχετίζεται με την πλατωνική θεωρία ότι κάθε ιδέα προϋπάρχει σε έναν παγκόσμιο κόσμο ιδεών και ότι η γνώση (ή και η αντίληψη) είναι μια πράξη θύμισης. Κατ'αυτόν τον τρόπο αισθάνομαι ότι λειτουργεί και αυτό που αποκαλούμε έμπνευση. Η λέξη reminiscence είναι μια αγγλική απόδοση του πλατωνικού όρου ανάμνησις.

Reminiscence is an entirely home-made personal album.
It contains some of my very first pieces for piano composed in high-school and some themes for student short films, composed some years later.

The title suggests the act of narrating a story as if it had been known in a previous existence. It contains an apprehension of the Platonic theory that every idea is part of a universal network of ideas and so that knowledge is an act of remembering. This is the way, I feel, what we call inspiration also works. The word "reminiscence" is a translation from the greek word anamnesis.

Daphne was born in 1990 and raised in Athens, with both parents being artists. She began making her own music in her teens. She studied filmmaking in Thessaloniki and majored in Sound. Since then, she works in cinema, TV or theatre in the Sound or Music Department. She shares her home studio with her cat Sibel.
