When John Howard ordered troops to board a Norwegian freighter carting 43 dehydrated, desperate and hungry people during an election, something cracked in the nations soul. It simply divided and distracted us, making refugees targets of hatred and fear. (A political tool of the right wing).
The argument of ‘Savings lives at sea’ and then silencing media and frontline workers was a lie and a moral abomination, sweeping our international obligations under the carpet.
