Lacuna (opera) by David Chesworth

It's epic and is meant to be seen live as well as heard, so it's a listening challenge but here it is anyway...

Lacuna is an allegoric dark comedy of Western political history, with characters drawn from the chess board. Lacuna charts the final 24 hours in the demise of Orpheus’ upper world as his queen, knights, bishops and rooks are ‘taken’ through seemingly inevitable processes – processes which reflect universal concerns with power and conflict.
Lacuna draws on parallels between the medieval and the contemporary, both in its narrative and music.

Lacuna is large work with nine singers and five musicians.
The ensemble uses quite unusual instrumentation as a way of reinforcing the idea of a fictional musical culture.

This is a multitrack recording of a live performance subsequently mixed at ABC studios in Melbourne.
