Fire Fire by Flora Adams

Flora Adams recorded this outstanding vocal for Winston Jones' Brooklyn based Flames label at S&S Sound Studio in Canarsie in the mid-1970s. Backed by Flames' in house band. "Fire Fire" is based on Tina Charles' disco hit "You Set My Heart On Fire", the then-teenage member of the Nairobi Sisters makes the lyrics entirely her own with searingly raw and heartfelt power. On the flip, Dub Music, the Rough Riders plodding instrumental is injected with sharp pieces of vocal drops to great effect. Killer.
