"Recorded live in the studio, this collaboration between saxophonist Wolfgang Fuchs and computer/electronics whiz Georg Katzer is an electronic improvisation in the formal sense of the word, but not the literal sense. Katzer has written a program that allows for each musical nuance: tone, pitch, meter, color, duration, etc., to be manipulated electronically either in response to playing with other musicians or with them involved in the electronic process. All of the information is fed in and then programmed supposedly at random, and played as such in response to outside stimuli, keeping everything fresh and new for the listener. This is a compelling little record, full of odd shifting sounds, timbres, and clusters of noise. The saxophone is always clearly hearable as such, even if its notes are spit back tonally, harmonically, and synthetically changed. While the music may have been consciously manipulated by its performers — it is still unpredictable."
