Oil Country by Billy Davis
Alex Zanetis spent his formative years working alongside his father and brothers in the oil fields of southern Illinois. Later Alex became a professional songwriter and wrote hit songs for George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Brenda Lee, Jim Reeves, Dean Martin, Lou Rawls, Ronnie Milsap, Charley Pride, and more than 40 top recording artists. in 1964 Alex also wrote and sang the Ballads of the Oil Fields.
Cousins Eric and Chris Zanetis each followed in their fathers’ respective footsteps; Eric in music production and Chris in oil well development. together they formed Zanetis Music Company.
This album is new recordings of those rousing and poignant Ballads of the Oil Fields brought to new life in a modern yet still authentic country music style. Sung by Billy Davis, this album is a tribute to the oil field workers whom the songs portray.
