Music often evokes landscapes and environments in my minds eye, both as I listen and as play/compose/construct. Sometimes it's a vista observed and sometimes it's a place traversed; a journey.
That is why I like the term Soundscape for my less conventional work. Even though the terms Ambient or Dark Ambient are more usually used for these pieces.
See for example my Desert Wanderings, and Urban Spelunking albums, or my ongoing Scapes n Scrapes series.
That is also why I like the terms Beatscape and Groovescape for my more beat driven tracks which also evoke, for me at least, places and journeys as well as moods and emotions.
One subgenre of these environment evoking works, are Spacescapes.
See for example my albums Far Horizons Approaching and A Space Soliloquy, or my collaboration with Boson Spin which we called Nebulous.
