Parents Dreams

My parents keep a pair of distant dreams
In fortune cookie papers on the fridge
They promise treasures and travel
Oh how I wish they came true

Dad wants to go to Alaska
See all the ice and the polar bears
In my dreams I can take him there
Oh how I wish they came true

For myself, I won’t ask for much else
but to work hard as I can
And maybe then, I’ll come back again
And see my parent’s dreams come true

Dad goes to work but his hearts not there
In dreams I see him up on the stage
Five thousand people and colored lights
Oh how I wish it came true

Mom sends a prayer out to saint Jude
To help look after her family
She dreams how easy it could be
Oh how I wish it came true
