Nacreous from Nubivagant by Edward W Feery
Best observed in the moments before dawn and after sunset, nacreous clouds (also known as polar stratospheric clouds, or PSCs) take their name from their shimmering, pearlescent colours, caused by the diffraction of light by the ice crystals that form them. As a phenomenon associated with civil twilight, it seemed an appropriate choice with which to open the album!
