Electric Landlady by Electric Landlady
I was in hospital at the same time as Alison, both of us receiving cancer treatment. One day
we talked about our shared love of music – she being a singer and me a guitar player – and
we hatched a plan to make an album together involving as many local musicians as possible.
Planning the project was fun and we really enjoyed bouncing ideas around, texting each other
at all hours - it kept our spirits up. Ultimately though, and very sadly, Alison lost her battle
before we could begin the album. For me there was no other option but to set about
completing the project as we had planned, and dedicate it to her memory.
As soon as I began I was approached by Alison’s friend Lucy who said, “Who’s doing your
marketing?” Well, I was just thinking about the music and hadn't considered that and
countless other practicalities that would be needed to see the project through. And so it
evolved. Before I knew it we had a lovely team of Alison’s friends and the whole thing became something bigger than Alison and I had ever imagined. It turned into something beautiful.
