kindly Light from kindly light by Emily Susan Pack

This is my first song. I mean, I released other stuff before but this feels like the actual first one.

I watercolored the bird because it's the one thing I can paint. I needed album art and it was on my nightstand, so I took a picture on my phone.

I'm proud of this song because it's when I finally just decided to start making things without worrying about my proficiency or their success. In this case, just worrying about my testimony and what I wanted to get off my chest.

It's me singing, playing percussion, keyboards, ukuleles and my buddy Chris Hudson playing bass and producing with me :) I know Chris from when he was a kid in my ward when I just started coming back to church. His family has always been endlessly generous and kind to me, and Chris is a dazzlingly talented producer! He hadn't been recording people at the time, but his mom suggested I reach out to him. He's the first producer that I've ever worked with where things felt productive and exciting, and he was just a senior in high school when we recorded it. I'm honored that he spends time with me, even though I'm kind of a boring SAHM that doesn't know how emojis work anymore!
