Mystery Animal by Erik Whittaker

"We heard yelling and screaming from the front. So, my mother and I walked to the front yard to see what was going on. We saw, as well did several neighbors, the woman across the street clutching her child to her, about a four year old kid, like this close, and yelling "Help, go away, go away!" And what she was yelling at was this unusual animal going across her front lawn. To this day, my mother simply refers to it as "that dog thing."

I think one of the connections as a child that I made to having it seem like a baboon was the fact that it had fingers."

Erik Whittaker has written and performed music in many Iowa bands including The Old Scratch Revival Singers, Peanut Ricky, and Los Voltage.

Erik’s sound is influenced by Julee Cruise, Howlin Wolf, PJ Harvey, Mazzy Star, Buddy Holly and Bauhaus resulting in dark, reverb-drenched, dream ballads and slinky, twangy blues.
