PRESS - REVIEWS

KEITH PROSK - HARMONIC SERIES (USA) : While the notes provide no context for it, i imagine some psychodrama of tension and intimacy, in which instrumental characters dialogue as if in some tragedy, not unlike Sarah Hennies' Reservoir pieces or The Reinvention of Romance.

OPDUVEL (NL) : The beauty of the music is revealed very quickly and grows as you repeatedly listen to the piece. Every tone and detail matters in this music. The album overwhelms you in an easy and natural way.

FOTIS NIKOLAKOPOULOS - FREEJAZZBLOG (BE) : There’s a hidden, cinematic feeling willing to unveil itself after repeated listening.

ALEX TRIPP - ENDAURAL (USA) : The music here moves very slowly but still gives you a lot, there 's individual instruments that pop up with small single note contributions for each moment, but there 's a good number of performers so that you 're never left too long in the silence. You still will have something that doesn't give you a lot of strong indications that you're going places, if you skip around through the piece it might feel like it's meandering around in entirely the same place for most of the runtime. But that's a terrible way to listen to music like this! I find that letting myself sink down into the time that it's operating in, there's these feelings that creep in that i'm not sure how to describe but it doesn't leave me in the same place i started. Beautiful stuff right here.

NICK OSTRUM - THE SQUID'S EAR (USA) : Eventless Plot, in other words, works within a recently established electro-acoustic tradition that one can trace through labels such as Another Timbre (who released the ensemble's Parallel Worlds in 2020) and, of course, Wandelweiser as of late. And they do it exceedingly well and to a heavy emotive effect.
