When I founded fakenumberland, my initial idea was to hone in on experimental chiptune; wacky digital fusion and art pop. Over time, we've expanded to additionally host more amorphic material-- such as improvisational albums, and whispery ambience-- and I'm proud to help bring you such a wide variety of genres and ideas. Still, though, have I continued to hold a large place in my heart for the no-holds-barred gameboy pop and jazzy FM synth jams alongside the contemplative experiences. So how about an album that gladly resides in the Venn-Diagram crossroads of the two?
This release (as far as I know) is the first major appearance of a secretive project cryptically titled Dara. "You!!", the premiere album by the musical entity, focuses on ethereal soundscapes, though with a fun twist. Over a sustained runtime across six parts, the breezy hums that are ambient staples are augmented with arpeggiated, bitcrush-tinged tones harkening back to the days of PSG and wavetable soundcards. The adept execution of two elements' marriage creates an eloquent harmony, making this release incredibly alluring. It's perfect for those looking to cool down following eventful days. I find this to be a very impressive release, and I hope it resonates with you as well. ^_^
