Combination Style is File Explorer's debut EP, releasing via Delight Records. The EP centres around fusing genres, sounds and ideas to create a fun, head-nodding and post-ironic experience.
Track 1, 'Slurp Juice' compares Drill and Baile Funk rhythms contextualised with parallel harmony in a Dub flavour. The track then takes a left turn to examine these concepts through the lens of House music.
Track 2, 'Sling Pod Galaxy' is a harmonic Jungle roller using video game soundfonts and samples. Morphing through a Footwork lens, the track somehow takes an even more frantic turn.
It is then interrupted by Track 3, 'Groovemaxxing', which takes the energy down to a funky breakbeat with a jazzy feeling. The tone evolves as a piano comes in halfway reminiscent of a Sergio Mendes tune, bringing it to euphoric levels of summer aura.
Closing the EP is a digital, glitchy Jersey/Trance track titled 'Two Men In Love At The End Of The Universe". Uplifting but bitter, the track flows with quick energy.
Also included in the EP are three remixes by Exaveon, vatti and Kit Kat. From face-melting to introspective these remixes give fresh takes on the combination style and introduce more lovely blends of sounds and ideas.
