WAKEN Remixes by Cuushe

Following her uplifting return with the 2020 album WAKEN, today Mayuko Hitotsuyanagi aka Cuushe announces the release of WAKEN Remixes, a full album of new interpretations and remixes from a notable cross-section of her friends, peers, and notable electronic artists. The album is set for release March 10th on FLAU.

Starting with a remix by Yu Su, a Chinese artist based in Vancouver who recently announced the first album, which is a beautiful fusion of synthesizers and real bass. Iglooghost, with Cuushe contributing vocals to his work sometimes, is a short but commanding presence with melancholic and dynamic electronic sounds. Tokyo-based beatmaker Submerse, who brings the latest jungle sounds to the table, is featured on two tracks. The electronic pop of the bouncy and lovely Kate NV (RVNG Intl.) fuses the sensibilities of good old Japanese electronic pop as represented by Haruomi Hosono with modern new age.
Suzannne Kraft captivates with his surprising indie rock style, and Hyperdub's Loraine James' intricately cut voices and delays create a highly concentrated beat sound; the glittering electronica of Ciel, an ambient hauser with releases on Peach Discs, Coastal Haze, Spectral Sound and more; and the fragile melodies and warm vinyl textures of Cuushe's labelmate Spring In A Small Town. All of them have a pop and positive step, making for an interesting compilation that unravels the mille-feuille of Cuushe's sound.
