Off World by Flying Vipers
Easy Star Records is proud to present the third full-length album from Flying Vipers, OFF WORLD, to be released April 11th, 2025 and available for pre-order now. After 10 years of instrumental dubwise reggae, the next chapter of the band has arrived, with new addition Kellee Webb’s soulful lead vocals adding depth to the Vipers’ cassette-crafted sound.
While OFF WORLD is largely comprised of original compositions, three covers encapsulate the lyrical and musical themes found throughout the LP: an alienation anthem from Northwest punk pioneers Wipers; the instrumental theme from the cult classic animated film La Planète Sauvage (featuring the acclaimed jazz harpist Brandee Younger); and most likely the first dubwise Sun Ra tribute. Their own singles, like "Believers & Deceivers" and "Jackals," confront the grim reality of modern culture, wondering if life in America (and/or Earth) is worth fighting for or leaving behind. Through it all the drum and bass anchor the music, helping listeners to hold their ground and to guide an escape into sonic space.
