To coincide with the Foreign Sounds/Children of the Night reissue of Murder Weapon's "Our Feet Are Planted On Enemy Soil" 7". Murder Weapon vocalist, bassist and principal songwriter Christopher Ashley has produced a cold, bleak, dark ambient work under his Harsh Life moniker using only the songs from the 7" as the sound source. The source material is now completely unrecognizable and from its ashes a new work is born. Harsh Life is a downer/dark ambient project from South Carolina.

Foreign Sounds and sub-label Children of the Night focus on releasing black metal, dungeon synth, dark ambient and experimental hardcore. Formed in South Carolina in 2010, both labels began from the ashes of hardcore/power electronics label KFLR-USA that existed from 1995-2004. The label is based in Central Maine since 2021.
