Longing from CIRCULAR MOTION by Francesco Crosara
“Longing” is a ballad, featuring a melancholic melody supported by a delicate rhythm defined by the wistful acoustic bass entrance. Originally written in 2014, it was finally finished in 2021. Inspired by Bill Evans compositions, the harmonic structure builds through a sequence based on the A minor tonality, and it ends with a surprising statement in A major, uplifting the overall mood of the piece, from somber to hopeful.
