Swiss-based American Olive T previously contributed to our Queer Base compilation and has also released on Permanent Vacation and Nervous while making appearances on Moxies NTS Show and Tim Sweeneys Beats in Space. Her mantra is lets get weird, and that plays out in her characterful sounds which always come with musical narrative but plenty of surprises.
Opener Gorgeous is an emotionally charged yet raw house sound with powerful drums and weighty kicks. A blend of whispered sounds, vocal coos and muttered words bring a real human intimacy next to rolling bass and chords that are quietly celebratory.
The wonderful Not A Dyke is just as evocative, though it rolls on dubby, more roomy drums. That allows the swirling pads to swell your heart and the tender vocals to marble the groove to dreamy effect. Add in some sugary synth arps, and you have another impossibly warm and loved-up house sound.
