Trashionista! by Friends of Cesar Romero
Self-described “carport rock,” Friends Of Cesar Romero are a prolific garage punk outfit that is at times deliberately non-catchy then at other times extremely so. It’s a full length, despite the cassingle packaging. Limited to just ninety copies, it’s a delightful sample of the neo garage punk they’ve been playing for the past seven years or so. It’s 2018 and Johnny GoGo has called an audible outside of the Friends Of Cesar Romero playbook. Porcupine had a new album written, but wanted to try something different. Rather than engineer, produce and play all the instruments himself, Porcupine enlisted the help of Denver based musicians Chuck “Papa Bear” Coffey and Tyler “Spartacus” Merkel to act as rhythm section and co-producers during the recording sessions for the album. This approach resulted in twelve compact garage-pop gems culled from the never-ceasing mind of a creative master and fleshed out by two willing and able sidemen. Snappy Little Numbers will release this new album, “Trashionista!,” on 8/3/18 and GoGo will once again assemble a collection of tried and true mates to recreate the FOCR magic in a live setting through the fall of 2018
